En la presente colección se editan los villancicos y cantadas al Santísimo de Francisco Corselli (1705-1778), maestro de la Real Capilla de Madrid. Cada volumen incluye cantadas para una voz solista –tiple, alto, tenor y bajo–, en ocasiones precedidas por un estribillo a 8. Además, se dedica otro volumen a los villancicos al Santísimo para coro. El presente volumen incluye cuatro cantadas para bajo. En una de ellas se menciona al cantante, el famoso bajo Antonio Montagnana. Cabe pensar que el resto de cantadas estarían también destinadas a ser interpretadas por él.

El estudio de las formas musicales de este libro de texto va a descubrir las tendencias, las finalidades, as como las razones de ser de determinadas estructuras musicales. No fue ocasional, espordico, o contingente, el nacimiento de la sonata, el desarrollo de la misma a travs de la msica instrumental de cmara, y ms tarde de orquesta. Tampoco tuvo este carcter la elaboracin de la Fuga o del Motete, del Oratorio o de la Misa. Recognized as the most significant composer from New Spain in the early eighteenth century, Manuel de Sumaya (ca. 1678–1755) oversaw musical activity at Mexico City Cathedral during a time of stylistic change.
