Frank Lloyd Wright

Ficha del Libro

Libro Frank Lloyd Wright

Widely thought to be the greatest American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) was a true pioneer, both artistically and technically. At a time when reinforced concrete and steel were considered industrial building materials, Wright boldly made use of them to build private homes. His prairie house concept - that of a low, sprawling home based upon a simple L or T figure - was the driving force behind some of his most famous houses and became a model for rural architecture across America. Wright’s designs for office and public buildings were equally groundbreaking and unique. From Fallingwater to New York’s Guggenheim Museum, his works are among the most famous in the history of architecture.

Rogelio Salmona

Libro Rogelio Salmona

Colombian architect Rogelio Salmona has translated pragmatic and poetic concepts and intentions into physical form. These result from the architect's deep communion with and understanding of the materials and processes, as well as of the historic-cultural context in which his architectural intervention takes place. Salmona's oeuvre, including such notable examples as the Torres del Parque (1967) in Bogota, the Presidential House for Illustrious Guests (1981) in Cartagena, the Quimbaya Museum (1983) in Armenia and the National Archive of the Nation (1992) in Bogota, is without doubt one of the ...

BERGMAN

Libro BERGMAN

"This study goes beyond a formal description and esthetic analysis of house design in Mexico to offer an interpretation based on the complex network of economic, social, and cultural relations. Begins with an analysis of the indigenous home and lifestyle and continues into postrevolutionary, modern, and contemporary periods of historic transition, during which a new conception of urban space developed offering greater possibilities for individual expression. Contains many b/w plates of colonial city plans, 19th-century plans and photographs, and 20th-century photographs up to the...
