A partir de la conferencia dada con motivo de la festividad de San Isidoro de Sevilla se elabora este libro que pretende efectuar un balance de las diferentes teorías y sus argumentaciones referidas a los restos de esta época (mayormente murallas y viviendas), prestando mayor atención a un campo poco tratado: los espacios domésticos. Con todo ello se desea contribuir al conocimiento del funcionamiento de la sociedad indígena, de su estructura social, económica, territorial y administrativa a partir de los datos proporcionados por las excavaciones.
