Los elementos neofantásticos en el cuento “Carta a una señorita en París” de Julio Cortázar

Esta idea corriente de lo fantástico se ha piloteado por la reciente popularidad de obras como El Señor de los Anillos o Harry Potter, que ambas fueron grandes sucesos tanto en la versión literaria como en la cinemática. A pesar de esto, la literatura fantástica cuenta con una larga tradición literaria, también y sobre todo en Latinoamérica, aunque este tipo de literatura no tiene mucho que ver con la definición recién dada. Pero ¿qué es precisamente lo fantástico? ¿Pertenecen a este genero obras como por ejemplo El Señor de los Anillos desde un punto de vista científico? ¿Dónde están sus límites y cuáles son los temas fantásticos? El presente trabajo quiere contestar estas preguntas basándose en el autor argentino Julio Cortázar y especialmente en su cuento Carta a una señorita en París. Por el hecho que el autor mismo denominó sus obras como fantásticas sólo “por falta de mejor nombre” , también será necesario aclarar hasta qué punto se puede aplicar el concepto de lo “neofantástico” a ellas. Para conseguir esta meta primero intentaré encontrar criterios para una clasificación de obras neofantásticas y luego los aplicaré al cuento Carta a una señorita en París así interpretándolo.
