Libro DON BERNARDO DE SANDOVAL Y ROJAS

When Don Bernardo de Sandoval was elected Archbishop of Toledo in 1599, a circle of intellectuals, including writers such as Góngora, Cervantes, Valdivieso, Espinel and others, formed around him. Beyond patronage and courtly praise, these writers formulated an ideology having to do with political and social issues of particular interest to the prelate. The cardinal himself left a considerable number of texts of enormous interest from a literary, political or religious point of view. This book edits and studies these texts, along with the figure of Don Bernardo himself.

Garcilaso de la Vega and the Italian Renaissance

Libro Garcilaso de la Vega and the Italian Renaissance

In place of the much-abused concept of sincerity, Heiple argues that the intellectual currents of the Renaissance are much more important for the analysis of Garcilaso's poetry.
