Art and Utopia

First journal dedicated to the promotion of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba extensive collection, the exhibitions and the cultural and conservation and restoration activities organized for the last 5 years. This is the first number of the series and was published in commemoration of the reopening of the museum in July 2001.

Here we find the more physical approach to the craft of filmmaking: the famous and anonymous artists, enlightened or overshadowed by the spotlight. In the beginning it was just words, pure text. Then, facing the camera, it's time for a discontinuous action that will make sense on the editing table. Then, comes the viewer. An English teacher finds out that John Lennon is in Germany. He wants to know why and from there lines up his trip. The two are on their way: both fleeing something, and so begins the story of this great book.

Según la interpretación que Hans Belting ofrece del tríptico El jardín de las delicias de El Bosco, ésta no es una obra secretamente herética, ni representa una concepción personal de los dogmas de la Iglesia, ni es una singular y opulenta ilustración del relato bíblico de la Creación; según él, no se trata sino de la pintura de una utopía, que sólo pudo brotar del «espíritu de la época» y que es necesario relacionar con las teorías humanistas de Tomás Moro y Willibald Pirckheimer.
