Adaptación de una tesis de doctorado. El autor define el centro histórico, delimita su espacio y describe su esencia como individuo geográfico. Da cuenta de su desarrollo como espacio central, en el que se reúnen los testimonios arquitectónicos de seis siglos de historia colonial.
